Description

Use the Order Choices page to view, add, or edit order choice options, such as host codes; questions; and order choice, sample, storage temperature, and container. You must first set up these options before you can create an order choice. See the Clinical InfoOrder Choice TypesSample TypesStorage Temperatures, or Tube or Container Types administration topics.

Note

The data displayed on this page depends on the column view settings for your facility. The system uses the column view settings to control what columns appear in the tables on this page and the order in which it sorts the displayed information. You may set column view rules at the location or the system default levels. The rules for the signed-in location, if available, supersede the system default column view rules.

Suppress from Work in ProgressSelect this checkbox when orders are added with multiple order choices that could appear on the Work in Progress page to define which order choice will actually appear and which will not.
OrderableSelect this checkbox if the order choice may be ordered by all users. Clear this checkbox to restrict ordering of this order choice by all users. If the order choice is not orderable, the system clears it from the Order Choices list page when you select the Show Orderable Only checkbox.
Research/ExperimentalSelect this checkbox if this order choice is used for research or experiments only. If this checkbox is selected for an order choice when the system performs medical necessity checking during order entry, then it may display the ABN Status and Print page to allow you to print an ABN for the order.
Allow to exist on a single order more than once

Select this checkbox to allow this order choice to reside on a single order more than once. If an order choice resides on an order more than once, the system will not allow it to have the same sample ID as any other instance of the same order choice on that order. If this is enabled and a user overrides the sample ID rule by editing the sample ID, the system will send the results for that order choice to the Match Results queue when they are parsed. See the Match Results topic.

This settings is not available for toxicology order choices.

Prohibit from attaching to future standing ordersSelect this checkbox to automatically mark an order choice as Current Only within the Standing Order Attachment Scope when adding that order choice to an existing standing order.
Prohibit ordering with a high level prioritySelect this checkbox to prevent users from assigning the highest level of priority to the selected order choice when placing orders.
Fail allSelect Diagnosis CodesFrequencies, or Frequencies and Diagnosis Codes to have the system consider all diagnosis codes, frequency limits, or both as invalid for the order choice, which will cause it to create an ABN, regardless of what the diagnosis code or frequency is.
Pass allSelect Diagnosis CodesFrequencies, or Frequencies and Diagnosis Codes to have the system pass all diagnosis codes, frequency limits, or both as valid for the order choice, which will cause it not to create an ABN, regardless of what the diagnosis code or frequency is.
Ordering RestrictedSelect this checkbox to restrict ordering of this order choice to selected users, locations, groups, and staff members. Select Assign UsersAssign Locations, or Assign Groups to select users, locations, or groups on the Restricted Access Table page, which users, locations, or groups may order this order choice. See the Restricted Access Table topic. If an order choice is restricted, the system only displays it, or profiles it is in, on the Order Patient Samples page if either the ordering location is on the location restriction list, the signed-in user is on the user restriction list, or the group is on the restriction list. However, the system displays order choices on setup pages (either Administration or Tasks) regardless of whether or not they are restricted.
Allow this order choice to be ordered by default Select this checkbox to have the users/locations defined on the restricted lists will not be able to order this order choice. This functionality allows for the framing of the order choice's orderability in terms of "EVERYONE except x, y, and z" as opposed to "NO ONE except x, y, and z."
Prevent this order choice from being ordered by defaultSelect this checkbox to prevent specific locations or users from ordering an order choice.
Viewing RestrictedSelect this checkbox to prevent users from seeing the order choice name, abbreviation, and tube/container type for this order choice unless they have one or more of the rights to view restricted order choice information on labels, requisitions, or pages throughout the program.
Require specimen part informationSelect this checkbox to have the system require specimen part information for the order choice. When selected, the Default Category field will be available.
Use default category when ordering

Select this option to select the default category when placing an order.

  • Default Category: Select inside the field to configure a default specimen part category for an order choice. When an order choice is added to an order that requires specimen part information, the configured default category will be selected by default. Select the magnifying glass icon to manually search for order choices, or simply select inside the field. Select X to remove the category.
  • Limit to default specimen source category: Select this checkbox to limit the specimen selection for this order choice to only the default category.
  • Limit Specimen Sources: Select this button to display the Limit Specimen Sources pop-up. The pop-up allows users to define a specific list of specimen sources that this order choice can choose from when it is ordered. Select inside the search-as-you-type field to search for and select a specimen source. Select the blue link to add it, and clear the Select checkbox to remove it from the table.

If the first option is selected, the specimens that can be added to limit specimen source list are restricted to those within the default category. If specimen sources already exist in the list that do not fall within the default category, when the new checkbox is selected, the user is warned that this action will remove any specimen sources that are not within the default category from the list (the user may opt out at this point and not alter the list). This same warning appears if the checkbox is already selected and the Default Category is changed as this action will also remove any specimen sources from the list that do not fall within the default category.

Select Save to save changes, or select Cancel to close the pop-up without making any changes.
Use default group when ordering

Select this option to select a default group when placing an order.

  • Default Group: Select inside the field to configure a default specimen part group for an order choice. When an order choice is added to an order that requires specimen part information, the configured default group will be selected by default. Select the magnifying glass icon to manually search for order choices, or simply select inside the field. Select X to remove the group.
  • Take user directly to Specimen Part Details: Select this checkbox to navigate the user directly to the Specimen Part Details pop-up on the Order Patient Samples page. Note that when this checkbox is selected, the entire Enter Specimen Part pop-up will be skipped and the user will be taken to the Specimen Part Details pop-up using the default group specified on the order choice.
Only Orderable On ProfilesSelect this checkbox to have the system only allow users to add the order choice to orders if the order choice is part of a profile; otherwise, it will be unavailable.
Auto-approve upon collection

Select this checkbox to allow the system to auto-approve order choices (advance their statuses to final) when users mark them as collected. This causes the system to generate reports and billing events, if necessary. Note that if the Skip Collection option is also enabled for the ordering location, the system will mark the order choice as final when users order it.

  • Auto-approve test is not reportable if other results exist: Select this checkbox to have the system auto-approve test results that are attached to auto-approved order choices. This will cause the order choices to be suppressed if other test results exist.
Limited DeliverySelect this checkbox for the order choice if you would like to use this variable when configuring result delivery rules during result report delivery setup for users, locations, or at the system default level on the Result Delivery Rules administration page. When configuring a delivery rule, users may designate if the rule should fire when the newly resulted order choices include a limited delivery order choice, do not include a limited delivery order choice, or if it does not matter if there is or is not a limited delivery order choice.
Reportable

Select this checkbox to allow the system to include this order choice on result reports. These settings only apply to result reports that are delivered to report recipients; they do not affect how the system evaluates reporting rules. If this option is not enabled (making the order choice not reportable) and a report recipient has defined that they do not receive a result report until all order choices in an order are final, then the system still waits until all order choices, reportable and not reportable, are final before sending that recipient a result report.

When the order choice is designated as reportable, you may use these sub-settings to prevent the system from delivering the selected order choice for specific delivery types:

  • Not reportable when delivered via FAX
  • Not reportable when delivered via Email
  • Not reportable when delivered via Direct Printing
  • Not reportable when delivered via RAPS
  • Not reportable when delivered via Direct Dial
  • Not reportable when delivered via Location Inbox
  • Not reportable when delivered via User Inbox
Suppress from requisitionSelect this option to have the system suppress the order choice from appearing on requisitions.
Suppress from manifestSelect this option to have the system suppress the order choice and its samples from appearing in the list of samples to be selected for the manifest. It will also prevent the order choice and its samples from appearing on the manifest PDF itself. Samples will still appear in both places if two order choices share a sample and only one of the order choices is set to be suppressed from the manifest.
Suppress HL7 results on reportsSelect this checkbox to cause only attachment results to show up on system-generated reports. When enabled, the system stores results received in HL7 transmissions and passes them on to configured host interfaces, but it will not include them on the report. Note that the system uses attached files as results in two ways: via the Attachments page (accessed from the Order Patient Samples page) and via the host Interface Configuration Result Attachment Path setting.
Only suppress when linked document result existsSelect this checkbox to have the system suppress HL7 results from being reported if, and only if, a linked document report has already posted for that order choice. This affects when HL7-based results are displayed on result reports.
If suppressing when linked document result existsSelect this checkbox to have the system suppress HL7 results from being when linked documents results already exist.
Allow users to always cancel this order choice regardless of their rightsSelect this checkbox to always allow the cancellation of the order choice regardless of the user's rights. With this new setting enabled for an order choice, any user will be able to cancel the order choice regardless of the rights they have assigned to them.
Show on lab report when cancelledSelect this checkbox to control whether the system displays the reason for the cancellation when the status is Cancelled on standard, alternate, and custom reports.
Report tests in last message onlySelect this checkbox to only display the most recent set of test results for this order choice that were sent in the HL7 result message on the lab report. See the Lab Report topic. For example, you may wish to set this option for microbiology order choices.
Report most recent linked document onlySelect this checkbox to have the system only report the most recent linked document. When parsing non-HPDF linked document results, this setting causes only that new linked document to be considered as the current reportable linked document. Previously parsed linked documents for that order choice will not be displayed when viewing a current result report.
Prevent linked documents from being added to order choiceSelect this checkbox to have the system prevent linked documents from being attached to the order choice. When this setting is turned on for an order choice, the user will not be able to attach a linked document to that order choice.
Force result delivery for preliminary resultsSelect this checkbox to have the system always report results for this order choice as soon as it receives results (even if preliminary). This setting overrides the result delivery settings for when the system delivers reports to users based on the Result Delivery Rules administration page.
Suppress result headers on standard format lab reportsSelect this checkbox to exclude the order choice result headers (In RangeOut of RangeReference Range, and Units labels) on lab reports that use the standard format. Note that the system uses the suppression settings for the order choices' reporting groups when you use an alternate report format. See the Reporting topic.
Suppress result history on lab reportsSelect this checkbox to prevent the system from displaying historic data (including graph points) on any result reports. When this setting is enabled, all result reports generated from that point on will not display historic data for that order choice. Note that there is one exception: If Suppress result history on lab reports is enabled for an order choice, historical results for tests from order choices marked as Suppress result history on lab reports will appear on the test-based cumulative report.
Allow result history on lab report test history graphSelect this checkbox to allow for result history to display on test history graph for lab reports. With this setting enabled, historic data will be displayed only on the test history graph for that order choice on lab reports. Other historic data display areas will still be suppressed, as this setting only affects the test history graph.
Show test history graph on result reportsSelect this checkbox to cause a result history graph to be displayed for that order choice on result reports. The graph is displayed immediately following the data for that order choice. All tests for that order choice (that can be graphed) will be displayed on the graph.
Maximum number of data points to graphEnter a value into the field to determine the maximum number of data points to graph. The default value is 5.
Graph heightEnter a value into the field to determine the height of the graph. The default value is 250.
Graph widthEnter a value into the field to determine the width of the graph. The default value is 500.
Suppress SPM segment in HL7 2.5.1 messagesSelect this checkbox to have the system suppress SPM segments populating in outbound HL7 2.5.1 messages. This setting only applies to interfaces that are sending out HL7 2.5.1 specification messages.
Require patient addressSelect this checkbox to have the system require users to enter in the Required Info page the patient's address, if it is not already present, when saving an order. See the Required Info topic.
Except for client billed ordersSelect this checkbox to make orders that are set to Client Bill exempt from the patient address requirement.
Gets own page on result reports

Select this checkbox to have the system display this order choice on its own page on reports.

If this order choice is the last or only order choice on the report, then the report footer will be on the same page as the order choice.

If this order choice is first in the report and there is a mailing label, they will both be on the same page.

In all other cases, any order choice with this setting appears by itself on a page. This setting works for all body formats (StandardAlternate 1Custom), and for all delivery types.

Print Abbreviation on label as reverse typeSelect this option to have the system print the ~sop - Sample Order Choice label format code in white text with a black background on master and tube labels.
Print Alternate ID on label as reverse typeSelect this option to have the system print the ~sai - Sample Order Choice Alternate ID label format code in white text with a black background on master and tube labels.
Print OrderEnter a number between 0 and 999,999 to determine where the system will list this order choice in relation to other order choices throughout the application (i.e., order choice abbreviation lists, Order Patient Samples, ABNs, and reports). Be aware that the system does not recognize this print order within the administration pages, so it will not reorder order choices on the administration side of the program. You may also set the print order for order choices using the Order Choices tab on the Reporting administration page. See the Reporting topic.
Label OrderEnter a number between 0 and 999,999 to determine where the system will print the labels for this order choice in relation to other order choices throughout the application. You may also set the label order for order choices using the Order Choices tab on the Reporting administration page. See the Reporting topic.
Reporting GroupSelect an option from the drop-down list to designate the reporting group to which the order choice belongs. Depending on the report body format selected on the System Defaults administration page, the system groups order choices together by their assigned reporting groups. See the System Defaults topic.
Default Estimated CostEnter a default estimate of the cost of performing testing for this order choice. The system uses this information on Advanced Beneficiary Notices, where it displays the combined estimated cost of all order choices on the order that have defined estimated costs. Note that if you enter a host-specific estimated cost in the Host Codes for this Order Choice section, the system uses that cost instead.
Sanford Guide Applicable Results

Enable Sanford Guide API Lookup: Select to enable the ability to lookup information in the Sanford Guide API from the Lab Report.

For a test to be displayed, it must be on an order choice that has this setting enabled and has a result with a flag in the order choice's list of applicable result flags. If no flags are set, all tests with data in the Sanford Guide Catalog will be displayed. The latest Sanford Guide Catalog (list of Content Names and Content IDs distributed by Sanford Guide) must be imported in .csv UTF-8 format.

  • Add: Select to add a result flag on the Add Result Flag pop-up. Enter the result flag you want to add in the available field and select OK.
  • Automatically included in report: In the text field, enter the content that you want to always display in the Sanford Guide pop-up when the order choice is in a report. The content will appear in a section within the Sanford Guide content pop-up called Content for <order choice name> Order Choice. Select the Add button to add the content item. The content items you add display in a list below the field; select the item's X button to remove it from the list.
Result Report Order Choice Information TemplateSelect an option from this drop-down list to set which result order choice information template the system uses when creating reports that contain this order choice. You may select the blank line to remove the link to the layout template and have the system use the result order choice information template that the report's result body uses. See the Layout Templates topic.
Duplicate Order Choice Checking

Select an option to set how the system handles duplicate checking. This setting works in conjunction with the signed-in location setting for duplicate order choice checking. See the Locations topic. If the location has duplicate order choice checking enabled, it works with the available options as follows:

  • Allow duplicates: When selected, the system excludes the order choice from duplicate order checking.
  • Restrict if active duplicate exists: When selected, the system displays an alert if this order choice is active (but not resulted in any form) in the system for the patient anytime when saving an order.
  • Restrict if active duplicate exists within __ Calendar Day(s): When selected, the system displays an alert if the order choice is active within the specified number of calendar days in the past or future for the patient. When the option is selected, a drop-down list appears to the right of the option. Select either Search by Order Date or Search by Proposed Collection Date from the drop-down list.
  • Restrict if active duplicate exists within __ (Minutes/Hours/Days): When selected, the system displays an alert if the order choice is active within the set time range for the patient. When the option is selected, a drop-down list appears to the right of the option. Select either Search by Order Date or Search by Proposed Collection Date from the drop-down list.
Duplicate Test Checking

Select an option to specify whether the system should allow or restrict duplication:

  • Allow duplicates: Select this option to have this order choice ignore the Enable duplicate test checking when saving an order setting for the order choice on the Signed-in Location tab on the Locations page. If this order choice would normally result in the same tests being run as another order choice on the order, the potential duplicate will be ignored and no warning will appear.
  • Restrict if active duplicate exists:Select this option to have this order choice respect the Enable duplicate test checking when saving an order setting on the Signed-in Location tab on the Locations page. If this order choice would normally result in the same tests being run as another order choice, by restricting duplicates on the order, the potential duplicate will be flagged and a warning will appear.

    Note

For example, Order Choice 1 and Order Choice 2 are ordered in the system. Order Choice 1 is old and has resulted in Test 1 and Test 2 before. Order Choice 2 has just been created. At this stage, the system does not know what tests will come back from ordering Order Choice 2, so no duplicates will come up in checking.

However, the lab that actually runs this order choice with an instrument could return Test 1 as a result of Order Choice 2. So, for that first ordering, there was not a duplicate found. But for a second order, now the system has knowledge of what Order Choice 2 is likely to come back with and will bring up the potential duplicate.

Synonyms for this order choice

Add

Select this button to add synonym(s) to the order choice.

The Add Synonym pop-up asks for more information. Enter synonym(s) into the Enter the synonym you wish to add field and select OK. When OK is selected, the defined synonym(s) will appear in the Synonyms for this order choice section. You may delete the synonym(s) from the section by selecting X. If no synonym(s) are defined, the section will read No Order Choice Synonyms assigned.

Select Save to save the synonym(s) to the order choice. Once saved, the synonym(s) are searchable on the Order Choice Catalog page. On the Order Choice Catalog page, these synonyms are searchable using the same Order Choice Name field that searches for Order Choice NameOrder Choice Abbreviation, or CPT codes. See the Order Choice Catalog topic.

Testing Facility Settings

Auto-approve upon receipt of results from an instrumentSelect this checkbox to have the system auto-approve test results from an instrument upon receiving the results.
Can be approved with

Select an option from this drop-down list to specify what the test can be approved with: No results presentAny results presentAll mandatory results present, or All results present

  • When No results present is selected, the order choice can be approved even if it does not have results. This option is selected by default.
  • When Any results present is selected, the order choice can be approved if any of the tests on it have results.
  • When All mandatory results present is selected, the order choice can be approved if all tests that are marked as "mandatory" have results.
  • When All results present is selected, the order choice can only be approved if all tests on the order choice have results.
Is final when

Select an option from this drop-down list: All tests are approved or All mandatory tests are approved

  • Select the All tests are approved option to only consider the system order choice final once all tests have been approved. This option is selected by default.
  • Select the All mandatory tests are approved option to consider the the system order choice final once all mandatory tests have been approved.

Note

This drop-down list is only available when the system has a POCT or Core Lab license enabled.

Order Choice Types Assigned to this Order Choice

This section enables you to assign order choice types created in the Order Choice Types page to the selected order choice. Note that you may assign more than one type to an order choice.

Add

Select this button to add an order choice type.

Select the blue link on the Order Choice Type Search page to add the order choice type.

Table

This table provides the following information:

  • Order Choice Type: Displays the name of the order choice type.
  • ID Generation Exists: Displays whether the ID exists. The column displays either Yes or No.
  • Delete: Select X to delete the order choice type.

Note

When the table displays Yes, this indicates that an ID Generation exists. When you navigate to the specific Order Choice Type, you may see that the ID Generation is inactive for that Order Choice Type. This is important to know because there are three different ID Generation options per Order Choice Type. The Active checkbox might be turned off; however, if you change the ID Type from Sample ID to another option, you will see at least one of the options turned on. It is the correct ID Generation, but it is not the first one that opened when opening that specific Order Choice Type. The table at the order choice-level does not specify which ID Generation Type is active, simply that at least one is.

CPT Codes for this Order Choice

This section enables you to add or delete CPT codes and modify CPT counts for the order choice.

Add

Select this button to add CPT codes using the CPT Search page.

Once you add one or more CPT codes, the CPT codes, their code counts, and their active statuses are shown. Enter the number of instances the CPT code is used to reference multiple tests in an order choice in the Count field. The system uses one as the default code count.

To edit the code count, highlight or delete the text already displayed in the field, then modify as desired.

To delete a CPT code, select the X that corresponds to the CPT code. This removes the association between the CPT code and the order choice; however, this does not delete the CPT code from the system. This means that the CPT code will still be associated with any other order choices it is mapped to, and you may still associate the CPT code to other order choices.

Use CPT codes configured on the Specimen Sources page (when not using discrete billing and not executing CPT rules) to supersede default configured CPT codes on the Order Choices administration page if an order choice has a specimen source assigned to it. If that order choice has a specimen source assigned to it, then it will use the CPT codes configured for that specimen source instead of the CPT codes configured for that order choice.

Clinical Info for this Order Choice

This section enables you to add, edit, or delete clinical information linked to this order choice. If the desired clinical information questions are not available, use the Clinical Info administration page to create new options. See the Clinical Info topic.

Add

Select this button to open the Clinical Info pop-up to add clinical info to an order choice case, lab-specific case, and cytology/pathology sample source information case. Enter text in the Select Items search-as-you-type field to search for and select clinical info. Select Save to add the clinical info to the Order Choices administration page, or select Cancel to close the pop-up without making any changes.

Once you add one or more items, the clinical info question, response type, and requirement status are shown.

To edit the requirements, select or clear the Required at Order or Required at Collection checkboxes. Select one or both of these checkboxes to require users to answer this question for this order choice on the Order Patient Samples and/or Collect Samples pages. Selecting the Required at Order checkbox will display the Force Clinical Info pop-up with a message stating that the user must have the Force user to complete clinical info when saving a new order setting enabled on the Signed-in Location tab on the Locations administration page for this setting to work. See the Locations topic.

Select the Show on Labels checkbox to have the system display clinical info for the order choice(s) on printed labels.

To delete a clinical information question, select X that corresponds to the question.

The system uses the sort order of the clinical information questions in this list as the order to display the questions on the Clinical Info page, as well as on requisitions, manifests, and HL7 messages. See the Clinical Info topic. To adjust a question's position in the list, select the question's Up or Down arrow button to move it into the desired position. Note that if the option to sort clinical information alphabetically is enabled on the System Defaults administration page, then that overrides the sort order you establish here. See the System Defaults topic.

Collection Information for this Order Choice

This section enables you to define collection information for the order choice. If you are creating a new order choice, the system will display the default collection information created in the System Defaults administration page. See the System Defaults topic.

AddSelect Add to add new collection information using the Sample Collection page. See the Sample Collection topic.
Table

The system lists each container used for collection for this order choice, along with additional information:

  • Tube/Container
  • Sample
  • Storage
  • Suffix
  • Tube/Container Count
  • Collection Interval
  • Combinable
Blue linksSelect the Tube/Container or Sample links to edit existing or default collection information using the Sample Collection page. See the Sample Collection topic.
Prevent combining if Aliquot ID Code is different Select this checkbox to prevent the combining if the aliquot ID is different. When evaluating if this aliquot group will be combined with others, it will only allow the combining of both order choices that have the same aliquot ID code.
XSelect this button in the Delete column to delete an entire set of collection information.
AlternatesSelect this button to open the Alternate Sample Collection Sets page.
SaveSelect this button to record all changes. As soon as you save this information, it is available to view by selecting the Default or Lab Specific link in the Collection column in the Host Codes for this Order Choice section of the Order Choices details page.

Host Codes for this Order Choice

This section enables you to add or edit the host code information for the order choice.

Note

To make it easier to see what changes you're making to what host, you can select a host row to highlight it in the list. You can also hover your mouse pointer over an element in the table to display a tooltip with the host name and the current column.

Show active hosts onlySelect this checkbox to view active hosts only. Set the active/inactive status in the Host Details section of the Hosts details page. See the Hosts topic.
Host is ActiveDisplays whether the host is active.
Host NameDisplays the host name.
Host Codes

Enter the codes for the order choice in this field to add host codes. These host codes must be unique for each host across order choices.

For example, you may not use the host code 123 for Host A for both Order Choice 1 and Order Choice 2. If you try to save a host code that is identical to another code for the same host for two order choices, the system displays a warning message that details where up to ten conflicts lie and prompts you proceed with saving the host codes or not.

Select the fill link to open the Enter Text pop-up to enter text to fill into the text fields in the table. Select OK to add the text, or select Cancel to close the pop-up without adding text. The text entered will be entered into all host codes listed.

Active for this HostSelect this checkbox to designate the code as usable for the host. Clear this checkbox to restrict users from using the host code.
Suppress Order RequestSelect this checkbox to control whether or not an order choice order request message should be sent to that specific host for that order choice. This option, which is not selected by default, does not apply to hosts that are a Lab type.
Use Lab Filler as the system SID

Use this drop-down list to select an option for using the lab's filler order number as the system sample ID for the selected order choice (on a per lab-host basis, as the primary choice when evaluating which ID should be used):

  • Not Used: Select to not use the lab's filler order number as the system sample ID for the selected order choice.
  • Use: Select to have the system use the lab's filler order number as the system sample ID for the selected order choice.
  • Override: Select to have the system use the lab's filler value, which is OBR-3, for the system sample ID for the selected order choice. This will take precedence over other settings.
Receive CPT Codes

Select this checkbox to have the system receive billable CPT codes in the result message from that host for that order choice. When enabled, the system will read billable CPT codes from result messages and generate billing (DFT) messages using the CPT codes received instead of the ones configured for the order choice.

If you use this type of billing, you should set billing to occur at the time an order choice is posted as final, instead of when an order is placed or when it is collected.

The system looks for the billable CPT codes in OBR-44. If there are multiple codes to be billed, populate OBR-44 as a repeating field. Note that the system assumes that it will receive total billable codes for the order choice in every result message.

When this checkbox is selected for one or more hosts, the system will accept CPT code values up to 16 characters. If it receives codes over 16 characters, the system truncates them to 16 characters. The Billing Summary report reflects the CPT overrides received in result messages.

Suppress Reporting From This LabSelect this checkbox to suppress reporting from the selected lab.
Prevent Repeat DeliverySelect this checkbox to prevent repeated delivery of a specific order choice's results to EMRs with the host setting Result messages include set to All previous results (cumulative). Select the host that is not to be delivered to. This will cause all new order choice results coming in to not trigger the results of this specific order choice when it has already been sent. However, if this order choice sends in new results, it will be sent out in the HL7 result message.
ReportableSelect this checkbox to allow the system to include this order choice when sending a result message to a host (HL7 ORU message). This setting does not affect how the system evaluates reporting rules. If this option is not enabled (making the order choice not reportable) and a report recipient has defined that they do not receive a result report until all order choices in an order are final, then the system still waits until all order choices, reportable and not reportable, are final before sending that recipient a result report.
Report Engine

Select from the drop-down list to determine if the order choice will use internal or external report engine.

  • Internal: This is the default option.
  • External (SSRS): Select this option to include this order choice in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports when results are received from this host for this order choice and the report recipient (User, Location, or EMR/HIS-type host) has their Report Engine set to Mixed.

This drop-down list is available only for lab-type hosts.

Order choices configured to use the Anatomic Pathology module can only use the Internal report engine option.

Append Linked Documents to External ReportsSelect this checkbox to automatically attach an order choice's result linked documents to an externally-generated result report. This setting will force an order choice's result linked documents to be appended to an externally-generated result report if that order choice is routed to that specific host. This functionality will only be available for clients with the SQL Server Reporting Services license enabled. This setting will only be available for lab hosts (similar to other settings).
Suppress Non-HL7 Delivery Parsing HL7Select this checkbox to suppress non-HL7 delivery parsing HL7.
Hold Results For ReleaseIf available, select this checkbox to designate that this order choice for the selected host must have its results manually released on the Release Results page before users can see the results on reports. See the Release Results topic.
AliasUse this column to add, modify, or delete the alternate name for the order choice.
Display URLEnter a URL to display.
WorkflowUse this column to assign a workflow to an order choice. A single order choice can contain multiple workflows, one per host. When a new order is created with this order choice on it, the workflow is assigned based on the linked host to that order.
Clinical Info

Select the Default or Lab Specific links in this column to view, add, or edit testing location-specific clinical information questions using the Edit Clinical Information page. See the Edit Clinical Information topic.

  • Default link denotes that the host is set to use the order choice's default clinical information questions.
  • Lab Specific link denotes that the host is set to use its own clinical information questions. If there are host-specific questions, then the system presents those to users instead of the default clinical questions defined for that order choice.
Use In Addition To Default InfoSelect this checkbox to include host-specific clinical question information for order choices with the default clinical question information. This setting will cause the host-specific clinical question information to be included with the default order choice clinical question information if the order choice is routed to that host.
Collection

Select the Default or Lab Specific links in this column to view or edit collection settings for a host using the Sample Collection Table page.

  • Default link denotes that the collection information you created in the Collection Information for this Order Choice section is used by this host.
  • Lab Specific link denotes that there is specific collection information for the host in the Sample Collection Table page.

Once created, the system displays the sample collection information on the Collect Samples page.

Collection AlternatesSelect the Alternates button in this column to open the Alternate Sample Collection Sets page.
Auto CollectSelect this checkbox to have the system automatically mark the order choice as collected when it is saved on an order and is routed to the selected laboratory, as long as the Do Not Collect checkbox is not checked.
Suppress on LabelSelect this checkbox to suppress the order choice from the label.
Automation Interfaces

Select the Automation button in this column to open the Automation Interfaces pop-up, where you define the automation system interfaces and set the identifier for the order choice, which will be used to communicate with those interfaces.

This button is only available on lab type hosts.

When an order with this order choice is routed to a testing facility with the automation interfaces you select here, your system sends the order to the Orchard Device Engine for the selected instrument interfaces when the order choice's sample is marked collected. The system also updates the order whenever changes occur, such as if an order choice was added or canceled.

  • Instruments: Select in the search-as-you-type field to search for and select the automation interfaces to assign to the order choice. Select the Select checkbox to add the automation interface to the list.
  • Select: Clear the checkbox to remove the automation interface from the list.
  • Identifier: Once you add automation interfaces to the list, the Identifier field appears. Select in the field and enter an identifier for the order choice; the system will use the identifier to communicate with the interface.

The Automation button text appears green and italicized after adding an interface.

Send to Automation Line HostSelect this checkbox to configure the hosts that are set to use an automation line for the order choice. Once everything has been configured, orders placed with order choices that are routed to a host with an automation line will cause a ZSH message to be sent to the automation line upon collection of a specimen for the order choice. The ORM message that would normally be sent to the host with the automation line upon collection will not be sent at this time. The automation line will send a ZSH message back for each specimen as the specimens are placed on the automation line. The ORM message for the host with the automation line will be sent out once the system receives a ZSH message from the automation line for every specimen on an order choice. The automation line will also send ZSH messages that contain specimen tracking updates for the specimens on the line. The system will parse these messages and place the specimen tracking updates into a logging table for the specimens.
Order Choice Information
  • New link denotes that no order choice information has been entered for the host.
  • An Edit link denotes that there is order choice information for the host.

Once created, the system displays the order choice information in the Order Choice Details page.

Show Test List
TAT
  • New link denotes that no TAT information has been entered for the host.
  • An Edit link denotes that there is TAT information for the host.
Billing Frequency (hrs.)Enter a number in this column to set the number of hours that must pass before the system will consider another billing event for the order choice to be a separate billing event. If there is more than one billing event for the order choice for the host within the number of hours specified, the system considers it a repeat billing event, and, when sending the HL7 message, it appends the Repeat CPT code modifier to the Signed ABN CPT code modifier, which are set in the DFT Events administration page. See the DFT Events topic.
Estimated CostEnter a value in this field to define host-specific estimated costs for an order choice. If you do not define a value here, the system will instead use the order choice's default estimated cost, defined in the Order Choice Details section.
Request Collection Information From LabCorpSelect this checkbox to have the system call for collection information from LabCorp.
LOINC CodeEnter a valid LOINC code in this field, or select the magnifying glass icon to manually search for a LOINC code.
Use Only LOINC For HL7 2.5.1 Order Choice MatchingSelect this checkbox to have the system only use the specified LOINC code to match the order choice from incoming HL7 2.5.1 messages. Note that this setting is only available if the server is using a license that allows HL7 2.5.1 to be used.
Aliquot ID CodeEnter a valid aliquot ID code for the order choice in this field.
Format HL7 Results

Select this button to open the Format HL7 Results pop-up.

Double-click the code(s) in the Codes for HL7 Format section to include them in the HL7 Format field. This is the format for the OBX-5 segment of outbound HL7 messages. Select Save to save the changes made on the pop-up, or select Cancel to close the pop-up without saving any changes. Note that the Host Code field must be set and saved before accessing the Format HL7 Results pop-up.

Department

Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to select a department.

Note

This column is populated with a search-as-you-type field only if the host is a testing facility.

Suppress From Order Choice CatalogSelect this checkbox to remove the selected host from the Order Choice Catalog page for this order choice. If all hosts for a given order choice have been removed from the catalog, the order choice in question will be removed from the catalog as there is no longer any viable information to display on the catalog for that order choice.
Limit cancellation messages by order choice type

Select this checkbox to limit when a cancelled order choice delivers cancellation messages based on its order choice type.

This setting requires the order choice to have an order choice type assigned, and the order choice type must have an ID Generation scheme associated with it. When enabled for a host, cancellation messages delivered to that host will be limited to one per order choice type, and cancellation messages for order choices will not deliver to the host as long as at least one other order choice on the same order shares the order choice type that had the qualifying ID Generation assigned to it.

If a user selects the setting without first adding an Order Choice Type that has ID Generation to the current order choice being edited, the user will be informed that the setting will be ignored and given the option to deactivate the setting for all hosts in the Host Codes list for the current order choice.

If a user selects the checkbox, and the order choice does not have any order choice types, the following message will display: "You have configured the order choice to limit cancellation messages by order choice type, but no order choice types are associated with the current order choice. This setting will be ignored when creating outbound messages." on the No order choice types selected pop-up. Select Disable the setting for all hosts to disable the setting, or select Save and continue to save the change and continue.

If a user selects the checkbox, and the order choice does have order choice types, but none of those types have ID Generation, the message will instead read as follows: "No order choice type ID generation is defined for the current order choice. The setting "Limit cancellation messages by order choice type" will be ignored when creating outbound messages." Select Disable the setting for all hosts to disable the setting, or select Save and continue to save the change and continue.
