Description

Use the Create Work Request pop-up to generate a work request item for staff to complete. For example, you may create a work request for staff to:

  • Make additional cuts on a block
  • Arrange for send-out testing
  • Gather historical materials for a patient
  • Arrange for an external consultation


Once generated, the work request items appear on the AP Work Request page. Use the AP Work Request page to track work request items electronically and add notes or special instructions for staff, as well as change the status.

You can choose from the following types of work requests. Each type of work request has a different set of options.

  • Container Request
  • Historical Materials
  • Send Out Testing
  • External Consult
  • Deepers/Recuts
  • Cut Through
  • IHC Stain
  • Special Stain
  • General

Access

TaskCenter > Manage Testing > Work in Progress > select the vertical ellipsis button > Create Work Request Item > select a type of work request

The Create Work Request pop-up is available only with the Orchard Enterprise Pathology license and with the appropriate role rights.

Create Container Request Work Request

Select Container Request from the Work Request pop-up to create a container request work request item. When you create a Container Request work request item, the system creates the specific blocks and slides, as well as their tests, on the AP Worksheet.

Work Request TypeDisplays the type of work request — Container Request in this case.
Case

Displays the case that the work request is for. 

Created ByDisplays the user creating the work request.
Status

Select the status of the work request item: Pending or In Process.

Urgency

Select the urgency for the work request to help staff prioritize items: Normal, High, Critical

Assignee

Select in the field to search for and select a user to assign to the work request. Only users with the Edit AP Work Requests role right will appear in the search list. 

Part Containers

Select in the field to search for and select sample IDs to use to create part containers for the work request. The sample IDs you select display in a table below the field. Use the Blocks to Create and Slides to Create search-as-you-type fields to select sample IDs to use to create blocks and slides. Use the X in the Remove column to delete sample IDs from the list.

Block Containers

Select in the field to search for and select sample IDs to use to create block containers to use for the work request. The sample IDs you select display in a table below the field. Use the Slides to Create search-as-you-type field to select sample IDs to use to create slides. Use the X in the Remove column to delete sample IDs from the list. 

Add

Select the button to add a note for staff such as comments or special instructions. The note lists the user who created the note and the date the note was modified, if applicable. Select Save to save the note to the work request or select Cancel to discard changes.

All saved notes are listed in the table at the bottom of the pop-up with Entered By, Entered Date, Modified Date, and Note Text information.

Select the Edit button in the Edit column to modify the note text.


Create Historical Materials Work Request

Select Historical Materials from the Work Request pop-up to create a Historical Materials work request item.

Work Request TypeDisplays the type of work request — Historical Materials in this case.
Case

Displays the case that the work request is for. 

Created ByDisplays the user creating the work request.
Status

Select the status of the work request item: Pending or In Process.

Urgency

Select the urgency for the work request to help staff prioritize items: Normal, High, Critical

Assignee

Select in the field to search for and select a user to assign to the work request. Only users with the Edit AP Work Requests role right will appear in the search list. 

All History

Select the option to request the staff member pull all historical materials for the case.

Specific History

Select the option to request the staff member pull specific case materials. Select in the Previous AP Order Choices field to search for and select specific cases you'd like the staff member to pull materials for. Select the case's Select checkbox to add the case to the list below the field. All cases you select are listed in the table. Clear the Select checkbox to remove the case from the list. 

Add

Select the button to add a note for staff such as comments or special instructions. The note lists the user who created the note and the date the note was modified, if applicable. Select Save to save the note to the work request or select Cancel to discard changes.

All saved notes are listed in the table at the bottom of the pop-up with Entered By, Entered Date, Modified Date, and Note Text information.

Select the Edit button in the Edit column to modify the note text.


Create Send Out Testing Work Request

Select Send Out Testing from the Work Request pop-up to create a Send Out Testing work request item.

Work Request TypeDisplays the type of work request — Send Out Testing in this case.
Case

Displays the case that the work request is for. 

Created ByDisplays the user creating the work request.
Status

Select the status of the work request item: Pending or In Process.

Urgency

Select the urgency for the work request to help staff prioritize items: Normal, High, Critical

Assignee

Select in the field to search for and select a user to assign to the work request. Only users with the Edit AP Work Requests role right will appear in the search list. 

Facility

Select a facility to send the testing to. This field is required.

Blocks

Select in the field to search for and select blocks to send out for testing. The blocks you select display in a table below the field. Use the X in the Remove column to delete blocks from the list. 

Slides

Select in the field to search for and select slides to send out for testing. The slides you select display in a table below the field. Use the X in the Remove column to delete slides from the list. 

Add

Select the button to add a note for staff such as comments or special instructions. The note lists the user who created the note and the date the note was modified, if applicable. Select Save to save the note to the work request or select Cancel to discard changes.

All saved notes are listed in the table at the bottom of the pop-up with Entered By, Entered Date, Modified Date, and Note Text information.

Select the Edit button in the Edit column to modify the note text.


Create External Consult Work Request

Select External Consult from the Work Request pop-up to create an External Consult work request item.

Work Request TypeDisplays the type of work request — External Consult in this case.
Case

Displays the case that the work request is for. 

Created ByDisplays the user creating the work request.
Status

Select the status of the work request item: Pending or In Process.

Urgency

Select the urgency for the work request to help staff prioritize items: Normal, High, Critical

Assignee

Select in the field to search for and select a user to assign to the work request. Only users with the Edit AP Work Requests role right will appear in the search list. 

Recipient

Select the person you'd like to send the consult to. This field is required.

Materials

Select in the field to search for and select sample IDs/materials to send to the person doing the consult. The sample IDs/materials you select display in a table below the field. Clear the Select checkbox to remove a sample ID/material from the list. 

Add

Select the button to add a note for staff such as comments or special instructions. The note lists the user who created the note and the date the note was modified, if applicable. Select Save to save the note to the work request or select Cancel to discard changes.

All saved notes are listed in the table at the bottom of the pop-up with Entered By, Entered Date, Modified Date, and Note Text information.

Select the Edit button in the Edit column to modify the note text.


Create Deepers/Recuts Work Request 

Select Deepers/Recuts from the Work Request pop-up to create a Deepers/Recuts work request item.

After you create a Deepers/Recuts work request, the system creates the specific slides and container groups selected on the Order Choice AP Setup page. The system creates the number of slides you set in the Slides to Create field.

Displays the case that the work request is for. 

Created ByDisplays the user creating the work request.
Status

Select the status of the work request item: Pending or In Process.

Assignee

Select in the field to search for and select a user to assign to the work request. Only users with the Edit AP Work Requests role right will appear in the search list. 

Block

Select in the field to search for and select a sample ID for the block to cut. 

Slides to Create

Select in the field to search for and select the slides to use for the work request.

Count: Enter the number of times to create each slide under the selected block. 

Container Groups to Create

Select in the field to search for and select the container groups to use for the work request.

Count: Enter the number of times to create each container group under the selected block. 

Add

Select the button to add a note for staff such as comments or special instructions. The note lists the user who created the note and the date the note was modified, if applicable. Select Save to save the note to the work request or select Cancel to discard changes.

All saved notes are listed in the table at the bottom of the pop-up with Entered By, Entered Date, Modified Date, and Note Text information.

Select the Edit button in the Edit column to modify the note text.


Create Cut Through Work Request 

Select Cut Through from the Work Request pop-up to create a Cut Through work request item.

Work Request TypeDisplays the type of work request — Cut Through in this case.
Case

Displays the case that the work request is for. 

Created ByDisplays the user creating the work request.
Status

Select the status of the work request item: Pending or In Process.

Urgency

Select the urgency for the work request to help staff prioritize items: Normal, High, Critical

Assignee

Select in the field to search for and select a user to assign to the work request. Only users with the Edit AP Work Requests role right will appear in the search list. 

Block

Select in the field to search for and select a sample ID for the block to cut. 

Slides to Use

Displays the slide the staff member should cut through.

Add

Select the button to add a note for staff such as comments or special instructions. The note lists the user who created the note and the date the note was modified, if applicable. Select Save to save the note to the work request or select Cancel to discard changes.

Create IHC Stain Work Request

Select IHC Stain from the Work Request pop-up to create an IHC Stain work request item.

Work Request TypeDisplays the type of work request — IHC Stain in this case.
Case

Displays the case that the work request is for. 

Created ByDisplays the user creating the work request.
Status

Select the status of the work request item: Pending or In Process.

Urgency

Select the urgency for the work request to help staff prioritize items: Normal, High, Critical

Assignee

Select in the field to search for and select a user to assign to the work request. Only users with the Edit AP Work Requests role right will appear in the search list. 

Block

Select in the field to search for and select a block to use for the IHC stain.

Stains to Create

Select in the field to search for and select the stains to create.

The stains you can select here depend upon the IHC stain request settings configured on the Order Choice AP Setup page.

The system creates slides for every stain and slides in the container group.

Container Groups to Create

Select in the field to search for and select the container groups to use for the work request.

The container groups you can select here depend upon the IHC stain request settings configured on the Order Choice AP Setup page.

Add

Select the button to add a note for staff such as comments or special instructions. The note lists the user who created the note and the date the note was modified, if applicable. Select Save to save the note to the work request or select Cancel to discard changes.

Create Special Stain Work Request

Select Special Stain from the Work Request pop-up to create a Special Stain work request item.

Work Request TypeDisplays the type of work request — Special Stain in this case.
Case

Displays the case that the work request is for. 

Created ByDisplays the user creating the work request.
Status

Select the status of the work request item: Pending or In Process.

Urgency

Select the urgency for the work request to help staff prioritize items: Normal, High, Critical

Assignee

Select in the field to search for and select a user to assign to the work request. Only users with the Edit AP Work Requests role right will appear in the search list. 

Block

Select in the field to search for and select a block to use for the special stain.

Stains to Create

Select in the field to search for and select the stains to create.

The stains you can select here depend upon the special stain request settings configured on the Order Choice AP Setup page.

The system creates slides for every stain and slides in the container group.

Select in the field to search for and select the container groups to use for the work request.

Create General Work Request

Select General from the Work Request pop-up to create a General work request item. General work requests are a good option for requests that do not fit a specific task type.

Work Request TypeDisplays the type of work request — General in this case.
Case

Displays the case that the work request is for. 

Created ByDisplays the user creating the work request.
Created Displays the date and time the request was created.
UpdatedDisplays the date and time the request was modified or updated.
Status

Select the status of the work request item: Pending or In Process.

Urgency

Select the urgency for the work request to help staff prioritize items: Normal, High, Critical

Assignee

Select in the field to search for and select a user to assign to the work request. Only users with the Edit AP Work Requests role right will appear in the search list. 

Add

Select the button to add a note for staff such as comments or special instructions via the Add Note pop-up. The note lists the user who created the note and the date the note was modified, if applicable. Select Save to save the note to the work request or select Cancel to discard changes.

All saved notes are listed in the table at the bottom of the pop-up with Entered By, Entered Date, Modified Date, and Note Text information.

Select the Edit button in the Edit column to modify the note text.
