Description
Use the Microbiology Settings section to defines multiple test types for use within the Microbiology module. This helps to separate tests based on their function within the Microbiology Work Card Pop-up.
Some tests that are defined as system tests are innate to the Microbiology module and cannot be altered.

Microbiology Settings
This section only appears if Microbiology is selected from the Module drop-down list.
Microbiology Test Type | Select one of the following test types from this drop-down list:
|
---|---|
Associated Susceptibility Panels | Select to display a list of Susceptibility Panels that use this Antibiotic. This opens the Associated Susceptibility Panels pop-up. The pop-up displays a table with Name and Is Active. Select or clear the Show Active Only checkbox to have the table auto-update based on the selected criteria. Select Close to close the pop-up. |
Antibiotic
This test type defines antibiotics for use in the susceptibility panels.
Micro Performing Instrument Table | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to select instruments. Once you select an instrument, it will appear in the table.
|
---|
Clinical Information Test
This test type defines those tests that will link to an order entry question to contain any information gathered at the time of order entry or collection. Test information will be gathered into a Clinical Information section of the Microbiology Work Card Pop-up.
This test link is what enables a clinical information test to be displayed and manipulated on the Work Card, but it follows all settings on the main clinical information build. This allows the test to be shared between clinical and microbiology order choice builds.
Clinical Info | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to specify a select clinical info to associate with this test. This is a required field. |
---|
Culture Test
This test type qualifies the test to be added to the Microbiology Work Card Pop-up at the culture level and will qualify as part of the list to be selected when a test is added to the work card. It will be given its own section on the Microbiology Work Card Pop-up and allowed to create a link with a media container if necessary.
Is reportable by default | This checkbox is selected by default and indicates that the test will be marked as reportable when the test is first added to the Microbiology Work Card. Clear the checkbox to mark the test as not reportable when the test is first added to the Microbiology Work Card. This checkbox sets the default value of the reportable/not reportable toggle; users can still toggle the test as reportable or not reportable on the work card. |
---|---|
Allow a Container Link (Ability to assign a single specific Micro Media Container ID to this test) | Select this checkbox to enable the Linked Container search-as-you-type field in the microbiology test section of the Microbiology Work Card Pop-up to associate this test with any microbiology media container associated with this order choice. The linked container does not affect the workup status. This also allows the Media tab to list the test performed and its result under the appropriate media. |
Container Link Mandatory | This checkbox only appears if the Allow a Container Link checkbox is selected. Select this checkbox to make the container link mandatory in order for the Test section to proceed to a Complete status. Note Labs using batch workup for culture processing should avoid using this feature as the culture is not able to be completed via batch if this is enabled and must be done singly. This alters the workup status of the section, not allowing the section to reach a complete status until it has been designated. |
Micro Performing Instrument Table | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to select instruments. Once you select an instrument, it will appear in the table.
|
Isolate Auto ID
Automatically Added Susceptibility Panel | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to select a susceptibility panel. The selected panel is automatically added to the isolate on the Microbiology Work Card Pop-up when the isolate auto ID is added. |
---|---|
Organisms (filter option) | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to select organisms. Once you select an organism, it will appear in the table.
|
Sample Types (filter option) | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to select sample types. Once you select a sample type, it will appear in the table.
|
Order Choices (filter option) | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to select order choices. Once you select an order choice, it will appear in the table.
|
Micro Performing Instrument Table | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to select instruments. Once you select an instrument, it will appear in the table.
If an Auto ID with a linked Susceptibility Panel is being built, and if the instrument needs to have a single order interface message for both, the alias should be attached outbound on the Isolate Auto ID while the Susceptibility Panel outbound interface alias should remain blank. If the instrument requires a separate transmission for both the Isolate Auto ID and the Susceptibility Panel, each should have its respective outbound alias defined as such. |
Isolate Test
This test type qualifies the test to be added to the isolate components part of an Isolate section on the Microbiology Work Card Pop-up. It is to assist in the identification and further testing of a specific isolate and is not at the culture level.
