Description

The Dispose Metacontainer pop-up is a mechanism to confirm and mark metacontainers and samples as disposed of. The pop-up offers a tree view with the root of each tree being one of the selected containers upon which the disposal action was initiated. The children in the storage hierarchy of each root container are also shown. This allows the user to pick if the root and all its contents should be disposed of or just a subset.

By default, all disposable containers are selected for disposal.

Access

TaskCenter > Manage Samples > Sample Management > container ID link > Dispose

This page can be accessed from several different places.

Technical Manual

The roots of each tree are containers that were selected for disposal when the dispose action was initiated. There are multiple roots if multiple containers are selected for disposal from the initiating page. All children of a root are visible and are able to be selected or cleared for disposal.

Non-disposable metacontainers have gray text. This indicates that they cannot be selected for disposal.

Disposable metacontainers and trackable instances of samples have normal black text. This indicates that they can be selected for disposal. Disposable containers that are not marked for disposal have normal text while disposable containers that are marked for disposal have bold text.

arrowSelect the arrow to the left of the metacontainers to expand or collapse each node. By default, each node is expanded.
checkbox

Next to each metacontainer is a checkbox for disposal confirmation:

  • Clear: Clear the checkbox to indicate that the container and none of its children will not be disposed of.
  • Select: Select the checkbox to indicate that the container and all its children will be disposed of.
  • Mixed Selection: Select specific checkboxes to indicate that the container will not be disposed of, but some of its children will be disposed of.
Dispose Selected

Select this button to dispose of the selected metacontainers.

Note

If a sample is selected for disposal, each of its trackable instances appear separately.

If a metacontainer is disposable, but it contains other non-disposable metacontainers, it will not be able to be disposed of until its non-disposable metacontainers are transferred out of it or marked as disposable.

A container can only appear in the tree once. If both a container and its ancestor are selected when the dispose action is initiated, the ancestor will be used as the root checkbox.

Cancel Select this button to close the pop-up without disposing of any metacontainers.
