Description

Use the Result Delivery Rule page to set up the details for when the program delivers results. The schedule you create here determines what the program considers a reporting event, where it delivers the accumulated results for the order. The way the result delivery rule works is that once the Deliver New Report When option is triggered, the program delivers (based on your settings) all of the results that have queued for that order, even if the other results had not triggered a reporting event. So, for example, if you set your schedule to deliver reports when a STAT order choice is final, then when the STAT order choice becomes final, the program delivers the STAT order choice's results, along with any queued results for any other order choices on the order. If you want to further modify how the program delivers results for designated order choices, use the settings on the Delivery Groups tab on the Reporting administration page. See the Reporting topic.

Establishing the Result Delivery Rule

Delivery MethodSelect an option the from the drop-down list to indicate how the delivery should occur (Inbox, Email, Fax, RAPS, Direct Printing, HL7, or Direct Dial). The options available on this list depend on the delivery methods you have established in the Result Delivery page or Users or Locations administration pages. See the Result Delivery, Users, or Locations topics.
Delivery Destination OverrideIf you select a method other than inbox for the Delivery Method (see above), you may also enter, select, or search for the Delivery Destination Override (the type of input available is determined by the delivery method selected), which is the number, address, printer, etc. that the program should use in place of whatever the user's default number, address, printer, etc. is. For Fax or Email delivery methods, enter the fax number or email address that should override other values. For RAPS and Direct Printing delivery methods, enter one or more characters in the Delivery Destination Override search field and select Search to select a printer from either the RAPS Printer Search or Direct Printing pages. See the RAPS Printer Search or Direct Printing topics. For the HL7 delivery method, select an option from the Delivery Destination Override drop-down list of hosts to override other values.
Alerts & CommentsSelect to view, add, edit, or delete the alerts and comments associated with the current result delivery rule. See the Alerts & Comments topic. If there are alerts or comments for the result delivery rule, the button text is italicized.
Deliver New Report WhenSelect the condition under which the program will send new reports. You may only select one Deliver New Report When option, although you may set up multiple result delivery rules to cover each of these conditions.
Any new result receivedSends a new report when it receives any new result on an order.
Any order choice is finalSends a new report when any order choice becomes final on an order.
All order choices are final in order (with exceptions)Sends a new report when all order choices become final on an order. "With exceptions" means that you may exclude specific hosts (at the location or practice level) from the requirement that all order choices are final before sending reports. This allows the program to generate a report as soon as all order choices are final or the results come from hosts associated with the order's ordering location or the patient's practice, and the hosts are set to not hold reports.
Allow delivery if all order choices are final that had orders sent to a labSelect this checkbox to allow a result report to be delivered to the recipient if all non-cancelled order choices that have had their order messages sent to the testing laboratory are posted as final. The previous behavior of the configured exception testing laboratories not preventing result delivery still exists (those laboratories are configured in the host code tables' Do Not Hold Reports column located on the Practices and Locations administration pages.
All order choices are final in orderSends a new report when all order choices become final on an order.
Force result delivery for preliminary resultsYou may override users' settings for specific order choices by enabling the setting when defining the order choices on the Order Choices administration page. If this setting is enabled, the program always reports results for the order choices as soon as it receives results (even if they are preliminary), no matter what the users' result delivery settings are. See the Order Choices topic.
Active all daySelect the checkbox in the Time of Day This Rule Is Active section to specify that the rule is active in the the program system all day. Enter numerals into the Between and and fields to specify the times. The same time existing in both fields will be interpreted as a 24 hour period of time.
TimeEnter a range of time in the format HH:MM AM/PM. The program will only send reports during this time frame. If you enter the same time for both ends of the range, the program will interpret this as a continuous 24 hour period of time and will send the results at any time during that period.
Days of the WeekSelect the checkboxes that correspond to the days of the week on which the delivery should occur (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, or Saturday). You must select at least one checkbox.
Do Not Limit By Patient ClassSelect this option to have the program not limit result delivery rules by the patient's class.
No Patient Class AssignedSelect this option to specify that there is no patient class assigned to the result delivery rule.
Selected Patient ClassesSelect this option to specify a selected patient class for the result delivery rule.
All Patient Classes ExceptSelect this option to specify all patient classes except marked ones for the result delivery rule.
Do Not Limit By PrioritySelect this option to have the program not limit result delivery rules by a prioritized status.
Selected PrioritiesSelect this option to specify a selected priority for the result delivery rule.
Do Not Limit By SeveritySelect this option to have the program not limit result delivery rules by a level of severity.
Selected SeveritiesSelect this option to specify a selected severity level for the result delivery rule.
Require both "Priority is" and "Severity is" settings for deliverySelect this checkbox, then the program only delivers reports for this schedule if both the selected priority and delivery constraints are met. If you do not select this option, then the program delivers reports for this schedule if either the priority or delivery constraints are met.
Require the "Priority is," "Severity is," "Order Choice is," and the "Order Choice Type is" settings for a single Order Choice for deliverySelect this checkbox to make it so that the result delivery rule in question will only fire when all of the four listed conditions are met. If the rule cannot find an order choice that qualifies for the listed conditions, the rule will not fire regardless of any other conditions that are met.
Require both "Priority is" and "Severity is"The interaction between this and the Require both "Priority is" and "Severity is" settings for delivery setting. If this setting is enabled in addition to the new setting, all four listed condition types will be required. If this setting is disabled with the new setting being enabled.
Order ChoiceThe condition will be required based on the Require both "Priority is" and "Severity is" setting.
Order Choice TypeThe condition will be required based on the Require both "Priority is" and "Severity is" setting.
SeverityThe condition will be required based on the Require both "Priority is" and "Severity is" setting. The difference is that, with the setting, both Severity and Priority are required. Without the setting, only one of the two is required for the rule to trigger.
PriorityThe condition will be required based on the Require both "Priority is" and "Severity is" setting. The difference is that, with the setting, both Severity and Priority are required. Without the setting, only one of the two is required for the rule to trigger.
Deliver when _____ on the report, with or without resultsSelect an option from this drop-down list to define whether the schedule should fire when the newly resulted order choices include a Limited Delivery order choice (Limited Delivery Exists), when they do not include a Limited Delivery order choice (Limited Delivery Does Not Exist), or if it doesn't matter if there is or is not a limited delivery order choice (Limited or Not Limited Delivery Type Exists).
Require that documents are linked to the order as results for deliverySelect this checkbox to only allow the program to use this schedule when there is a newly posted result to an order choice that has an attachment as a result. This way the ordering location for orders received from an EMR can have a special schedule that fires only if attachments are being reported.
Require encounter has been closed at least ___ hoursSelect this checkbox to have the program require that the encounter has been closed for a defined amount of hours. The default value is zero.
Do not send when results are already being sent to the destination hostSelect this checkbox to have the rule not send when the destination host is already receiving the result through HL7 from that requisition.

To receive notifications, select the Notify this Location by email option. The contents and format of the notification email is based on settings on the System Defaults administration page, and you may view the notifications the system has sent in the Outbound Queue administration page.
