Description
Use this page to view or modify the HL7 message structure of inbound messages that the system could not parse successfully.
Note
You are permanently modifying the original message. The system does not maintain backup copies of messages.
Access
- Select Edit on the Fix Orders page.
Editing the HL7 Order Message
- The system displays the message details along with the HL7 message when the Edit Order Message page appears.
- Ordering Location: The ordering location's address.
- Error: The errors the system encountered while trying to parse the message.
- Place the cursor in the message to display in the Cursor Position field the part of the message the cursor is in (e.g., IN2-5.1 or PV1-7.2). There are a few special cases: if the cursor is at the beginning of the message, the position will be Start of Message; if the cursor is at the end of the message, the position will be End of Message; if the cursor is in the first field of the MSH segment, the position will display Message Delimiters; if the cursor is at the end of a segment or the beginning of the next segment, the position will display End of <segment type> Start of <segment type> (e.g., End of GT1 Start of IN1).

- To edit the HL7 message structure, highlight or delete text already displayed, then modify as needed. You are permanently modifying the original message. The system does not maintain backup copies of messages.
- Select Cancel to return to the Fix Orders page without saving any changes.
- Select Save to record changes and return to the Fix Orders page, where you may rerun the message.
