The following specifications are Orchard Software’s recommendation for optimal performance of the web servers for the Orchard Copia solution. Specification | Minimum Requirements |
---|
Operating System (OS) | Windows Server 2012 R2 SP1 64-bit or later |
---|
Processor Core Allocation (CPU) | (4) 2.0+ GHz |
---|
Random Access Memory (RAM) | 8 GB statically allocated |
---|
Hard Drive | 100 GB - Drive letter C (OS Store) = 60 GB + RAM allocation
- Drive letter H (Database local Storage) = 500 GB

Notes on Orchard Copia Web Server Deployment - The Copia web servers must maintain less than 1ms latency to the database server due to heavy transactional interactions.
- In a virtual environment, the required memory must be 100% statically allocated or marked as reserved.
- If automated faxing will be deployed, a physical server is required due to telephony requirements.
- For any Orchard Copia deployment, you must have a minimum of 3 web servers (4 if using automated faxing). Additional Orchard Copia web servers may be deployed for the purposes of scalability to accommodate larger volume organizations. The following metrics should be used when determining how many web servers to deploy:
Server | Quantity | Purpose |
---|
Web Resource Server | 1 | The Resource Web Server controls specific processes for the Copia application such as direct printing, remote access printing services (RAPS), HL7 hosts, email, inbox delivery, etc. | HL7 Web Server | 1 | Metric: 1 web server per 75 HL7 messages/minute. | User Access Web Server | 1 | Metric: 1 web server per 300 concurrent users. | Optional Faxing Web Server | 1 | Only necessary if utilizing automated faxing from Copia. |
