Description
Use the Specimen Part Details pop-up to enter specimen source and part details for the selected specimen on the Order Patient Samples page.
Access
- TaskCenter > Manage Orders > Order Patient Samples > search in the Order Choice Search field > select an order choice > Add Selected Items > select Save on the Enter Specimen Part pop-up

Specimen Part Details
arrow buttons | If there are multiple pages of options available, use these buttons to navigate between pages. |

Collection Details | Select this button to open the Collection Details pop-up. |
Category | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to select the specimen source category, or select the search button to view a list of specimen source categories and if the specimen source category is active. |
Source | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to select the specimen source, or select the search button to view a list of sources for the specimen. This field is required. |
Topographical answer 1 | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to enter information regarding where the biopsy is from, such as Left, Right, Upper, Lower, etc. The name of this field of often modified to Laterality. |
Topographical answer 2 | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to enter additional information regarding where the biopsy is from, such as Inferior, Anterior, Posterior, etc. The name of this field is often modified to Site. |
Anatomic location | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to enter information regarding the anatomic location of the specimen, such as Arm, Back, Cheek, Ear, etc. |
Procedure | Enter text or select in this search-as-you-type field to enter information regarding the procedure, such as Punch Biopsy, Excisional w/ orientation, etc. |
CPT code(s) | Enter codes that are associated with the specimen part, such as 99214, 90658, 90716, etc. |
... | Select this button to open the Quick Comments Pop-up to add a quick comment into the Topographical answer 1, Topographical answer 2, Anatomic location, or Procedure field. |
Insert Date/Time | Select this button to insert the current date and time into the Topographical answer 1, Topographical answer 2, Anatomic location, or Procedure field. The date and time will appear in the format M/D/YYYY HH:MM AM/PM. |
Delete | Select this button to remove the specimen part from the list. |
Buttons
Save Order | Select this button to save the order. |

Save | Select this button to save the changes and return to the previous page. The system will assign new parts to the correct specimen part IDs. Note Select Save on the Order Patient Samples page to save the order. All required fields must have information in them to be able to save the order. |
Add Part | Select this button to add a specimen part to the list. |
Previous | Select this button to navigate between pages. The pages will display as Part 1 of 3, Part 2 of 3, Part 3 of 3, etc. |
Next | Select this button to navigate between pages. The pages will display as Part 1 of 3, Part 2 of 3, Part 3 of 3, etc. Important If you make a change to the order choice's specimen part information on an order and then select Previous or Next on this pop-up, the ordering page will retain that change (the same as selecting Save on the Enter Specimen Part pop-up). The changes on the Enter Specimen Part pop-up are never committed to the database until the user selects Save on the ordering page. |
Cancel | Select this button to return to the ordering page without making any changes. This button varies based on whether the grid layout is used:
Note This button does not remove order choices with specimen part information that are already on the order. Once the Specimen Part Details pop-up has been saved and order choices have been properly created, the new Cancel button cannot remove them. |
