Description

This pop-up allows the user to create aliquot samples for the order, as well as select which samples the order choices on the order are tested on. The Sample Aliquoting pop-up can be accessed on the Work in Progress page by selecting the sample ID for an order choice and selecting Sample Aliquoting.

Once open, the pop-up displays a header section with patient- and order-level information.

Sample Aliquoting

PatientSelect the patient name to open the standard patient menu. Select either Demographics, Insurance, Order History, New Order, Collect Samples, Blank Patient Requisition, Change Log, or Linked Documents.
MRNDisplays the patient MRN.
DOBDisplays the patient's date of birth.
AgeDisplays the patient's age.
SexDisplays the patient's sex.
DiagnosesDisplays the patient's diagnoses code.
Order IDSelect the order ID to open the standard order menu. Select either Review Order, Samples, Labels, Requisition, Change Log, Lab Report, or Linked Documents.
Order Date/TimeDisplays the date/time it was ordered.
Ordering ProviderDisplays the name of the ordering provider.
Ordering LocationDisplays the ordering location.
Sample ID

Displays the sample ID.

Selecting on a parent specimen highlights the row as selected and insert additional rows beneath it to show the aliquots that currently have been saved. The aliquot rows simply exist for informational purposes and cannot be selected.

Collected ContainerDisplays the type of container.
Collection Date/TimeDisplays the date/time it was collected.
Order ChoicesDisplays order choices.
Collected ByDisplays the name of the person that collected it.
LabDisplays the name of the lab.
BenchDisplays the name of the bench.
Storage LocationDisplays the storage location.
ExpirationDisplays the expiration date.
Comment IconA comment bubble that opens the Order Comments pop-up.
Linked Documents IconA file button that takes the user to the Linked Documents page for the order.
Label Printer

Select in or enter text into the search-as-you-type field to search for and select a label printer.

Labels are automatically printed for any new aliquots as well as any other existing specimens which have their order choices changed and require new labels to be printed. The label printer automatically sets to the signed-in location's default label printer.

XSelect to delete the label printer from the search-as-you-type field.
Legend

Displays a legend explaining icons and colors.

Additionally, a tube icon appears on the row if saved aliquots exist for the parent specimen. The icon is black if the aliquots are all aliquoted and red if any of the defined aliquots have not yet been aliquoted. An exclamation point icon also appears on the row if the parent specimen has been disposed or if the parent specimen is expired.

SaveSelect to save changes on the page.
CancelSelect to return to the Work in Progress page without saving changes.
