Description
The Out-of-Range QC Result Documentation pop-up allows you to document out-of-range QC before they are approved.
Access
- TaskCenter > Manage Testing > Work in Progress > Review Results pop-up > Document Out-of-Range QC button
- TaskCenter > Manage Testing > Work in Progress > Advanced Review Results pop-up > Document Out-of-Range QC button
- The Out-of-Range QC Result Documentation pop-up will also display if a user selects the Approve button on Review Results or Advanced Review Results for out-of-range QC without first documenting and when the testing facility is configured to require documentation for out-of-range QC.
The Document Out-of-Range QC button will display only if the setting Enforce documentation of out-of-range QC results prior to approval is enabled at AdminCenter > System Setup > Testing Facilities.
You must have the lab-level role right Resolve Quality Control Violations to document QC out-of-range errors.

Undocumented QC Out-of-Range Results
This section lists the tests that had violations on Review Results or Advanced Review Results.
Select | Select this checkbox to select this test. |
---|---|
Test | Displays the test name. |
Control Value Violation | Displays the basic QC flag that applies to the test result. This will typically be either >> for 2SD or >>> for 3SD violations. Use your mouse pointer to hover over the flag to view the text explaining the flag. |
Westgard Violation | Displays all the Westgard rule violations that were triggered by the result. Use your mouse pointer to hover over each trend rule to display explanation text. |
Result | Displays the specific result for the displayed test. |
Units | Displays the unit configured on the test setup. |
Control Range | Displays the valid QC range for the test. This will either display the numeric range (low-high) or the delimited list of qualitative normal values configured on the QC lot for the test. |
Previously Documented QC Out-of-Range Results
This section details previously documented QC violations for this specific QC order. This section does not display documentation for the entire history of the QC lot.

Flags | Displays basic QC flags ( >> for 2SD or >>> for 3SD violations) or W for Westgard violations. |
Result | Displays the previously documented result value. |
Units | Displays the unit configured on the test setup. |
Documentation | Hover your mouse pointer over the icon to view the previously documented QC violation value and the date it was documented. |
Order Information
This section provides details about the QC lot.
Lot Name | Displays the name of the QC lot. |
---|---|
Lot Number | Displays the QC lot number. |
Auto-SID | Displays the QC lot's automatically generated sample ID. |
Ordering Location Name | Displays the name of the ordering location that ordered the QC. |
Phone Number and Extension | Displays the phone number and extension of the ordering location that ordered the QC. |
Documentation
Resolution to be applied | Select in the field to begin documenting QC out-of-range errors. The resolution you enter here will also appear in the Resolution field of the Resolve QC Violations pop-up in Review QC. |

Buttons
Apply to Tests | Select this button to apply the documentation to the selected tests. |
---|---|
Attempts | Select this button to open the Notification Attempt pop-up to document the date and time you attempted to send a notification of the results. |
Cancel | Select this button to close the pop-up without saving any changes. |
