Description

Use the Network Label Printers page to add or edit the printers available to assign to locations and users in the Locations page and the Application page. Because using this feature enables the server to print the labels directly, there is no way of alerting users to any errors, so the system sends errors to the Error Log instead of displaying a message.

  • EPL2
  • ZPL II
  • Labeler

If Labeler and the Network Label Printer option (below) is selected, enter the printer name into the Network printer name field. This is required.

Label DarknessEnter a value in this field to configure the darkness of the label. The default value is 10.
Network Label Printer

  • IP Address: Enter the IP address of the label printer in this field. This is a required field.

  • Port: Enter the number of the port in this field. Note that the Port field only accepts an integer between zero and 65,536. If you leave the port number blank or set it to zero, the system uses the default port of 9,100.
RAPS Label Printer

Select this option if the printer being used is a RAPS label printer.

If you select this option as well as the Labeler option from the Printer Type drop-down field, the network printer name is no longer a required field and a note will explain that if no network printer name is defined, labels will be printed to the default printer selected in the Labeler executable configuration.

  • Local Lab (Orchard): Select in or enter the name of the local lab in this search-as-you-type field, or select the magnifying glass icon to search manually. This field is required.
  • Workstation Printer: Select Search to enter a workstation printer name. This is a required field. There is a language column present on the data table that filters the results down to match the selected language on the Network Label Printers page.
Device Engine Label Printer

Select this option if the printer being used is an ODE label printer.

When a network label printer is defined as an ODE printer, labels are sent to the ODE to be printed on the configured label printer instead of sending the label directly to the label printer. This allows labels to be printed to a label printer that the system cannot access directly on its network.

For Device Engine Label Printers, you can select from the Printer Type field EPL2, ZPL II, or Labeler

  • Label Printer: Select the printer from this search-as-you-type field.

    Note

If the Label Printer's interface type is Labeler, then set the Printer Type to Labeler.

If the Label Printer's interface type is Direct Label Printer, set the Printer Type to EPL2 or ZPL II.
