Creating or Modifying Direct Printing Setup Details
Use the Direct Printing Setup section of the Direct Printing page to set up your PDF reader settings so that the system can send PDF reports to the defined printers.
To edit the printing setup fields, highlight or delete text already displayed in the field, then modify as desired.
Executable Path | The system attempts to automatically enter the path to the Acrobat Reader executable file. You may modify this path, if desired. Test: Once you have defined the path to the Acrobat Reader, select Test to have the system verify that it can access the file. |
---|---|
Delay | In the field, enter the amount of time the system will give Acrobat to print a file. As with other delivery methods, the system records the result delivery in the Outbound Queue page. If files are ending up in the outbound queue, but frequently not printing, then increase this number. If the system is getting behind on the number of documents it must print, decrease this number. |
Printing Method | Choose a printing method from the drop-down list. PDF Box (Apache Commons) is the default. |
Add Printer | Once your PDF settings are established, add one or more printers to the list of available printers for direct printing. |
Cancel | Select to return to the System Defaults page without saving any changes. |
OK | Select to record changes and return to the System Defaults page. |
Viewing, Setting Up, & Testing Defined Printers
Use the Printers section of the Direct Printing page to add one or more printers to the list of available printers for direct printing.
The page contains a list of up to ten Printers, the Practice to which they are assigned (if any), and their Active status. If the list is longer than one page, use the Page links, located below the list of printers, to navigate through the list. If there are more page links than can fit on the page at once, the system displays the Page field. Enter a number in this field and press the Enter key on the keyboard to immediately open the selected page.
Show active only | Select the checkbox to view active printers. You set the inactive/active status on the Direct Printing Printer Setup page (see below). |
---|---|
Search List | To narrow the list of displayed printers, or to find a specific printer, use the Search option. Select the List option to return to the full list of printers. |
Add Printer | To add a printer to the list, select Add Printer to access the Direct Printing Printer Setup page. |
Printer Name | Select the printer name link to access the Direct Printing Printer Setup page to view or modify the settings for a printer on the list. |
Test | Once you've added a printer, you must test the settings to make certain they work. Select Test and select OK in the confirmation dialog to send a test page to the printer. Please note that processing this may take several seconds. If the test page you receive on the printer lists the correct printer name and path, then the printer is configured correctly. If it does not, verify your settings and perform another test. |
Cancel | Select to return to the System Defaults page without saving any changes. |
OK | Select to record changes and return to the System Defaults page. |
Searching for a Printer
Search | Select the option to search by printer name. Enter one or more characters in the Search field and select Search to view a list of all printers that match your search. Note that the system searches for starting characters. If your search generates one or more matches, the matching printers are displayed with printer name, associated practice, and active status when the page refreshes. Select the desired printer to view the details. If no search results are found or if the desired printer is not found, search again, or you may create a new printer. |
