Technical Manual
ID Type | Select an option from this drop-down list to set what type of ID you are defining:
Note Depending on how you access this page, the system may restrict your available options. |
---|---|
Codes for ID Format | Use the values in this list to define the contents of the ID in the ID Format field. Type your selections in the ID Format field or double-click the codes in the list to create the file naming convention for the selected ID type. You may use any value multiple times; however, the system warns you if you enter a value that exceeds the maximum length. There is a maximum length when selecting format codes and the sequence number range. If you enter a sequence number code (seq) for the ID, set minimum and maximum values, as well as select how often you would like to reset the sequence, using the Sequence # Min, Sequence # Max, Sequence # Start, Reset Sequence, and Remove leading zeroes fields. |
Active | Select this checkbox to enable the use of this ID. Clear this checkbox to restrict the use of this ID. Important The Active checkbox might be turned off; however, if you change the ID Type from Sample ID to another option, you will see at least one of the options turned on. |
Use same Sample ID for all samples in the same order | Select this checkbox to place one sample ID on all samples in one order. Note If you enable the Use different Sample ID for different Storage Temperatures and/or the Use different Sample ID for different billing statuses checkbox, the system assigns the same sample ID to all samples being sent to the same lab, as long as they have the same storage temperature and/or billing statuses assigned to them. This setting does not affect how many sample records will be created in the system. It only affects how the system assigns sample IDs to them. |
Use different Sample ID for different Storage Temperatures | Select this checkbox to use a different sample ID for different storage temperatures. Note If you enable this checkbox, the system assigns the same sample ID to all samples being sent to the same lab, as long as they have the same storage temperature assigned to them. |
Use different Sample ID for different billing statuses | Select this checkbox to use a different sample ID for different billing statuses. Note If you enable this checkbox, the system assigns the same sample ID to all samples being sent to the same lab, as long as they have the same billing statuses assigned to them. |
Use different Sample ID for each tube/container on a single order choice | Select this checkbox if an order choice has more than one type of container and that order choice is not the first order choice displayed on the order. |
Use only for Pathology accessioning | Select this checkbox to hold order messages for specific order choice types until the order choices are "accessioned" using the accessioning page. When you load a sample into the accessioning page, the system assigns an additional sample ID that will be sent to the lab as the order choice's SID. |
Sequence # Min | Enter the sequence's minimum value. The default value is 1. |
Sequence # Start | Enter the starting number for the sequence. The default value is 68. |
Reset Sequence | Select an option from this drop-down list to set how frequently the system resets the sequence number:
If the system reaches the maximum value before the selected reset date, the sequence is reset to the minimum value even though the date has not yet passed. |
Remove leading zeroes | Select this checkbox to remove any leading zeros in the ID number. |
ID Format | Type your selections in this field or double-click the codes in the Codes for ID Format list to create the file naming convention for the selected ID type. You may use any value multiple times; however, the system warns you if you enter a value that exceeds the maximum length. Add n and x codes to set up how many digits or characters the system should reserve for the data in the resulting ID format. For example, if the sequence number will be five characters long, enter seqnnnnn. If you are modifying the settings for the PDF Result Report File Name ID option, you may use this field to define the file name given to result report PDFs when they are viewed/downloaded. Note You must enter all parts of the name, including the extension. You must also have the necessary system-level right to modify the ID format.
Important If you use the practice ID code (prid) in the ID format, the system only displays up to as many characters as you enter in this field. If after filling in the information, the ID would be longer than the number of characters defined in the ID format, the system displays as much of the data as possible, but truncates characters at the beginning of the ID format, if necessary. |
Validate | Click this button to determine the ID's usability and display the format. If the ID format is not validated, an alert displays. Note Inactive schemes do not require validation to be saved. |
Save | Click this button to record changes and return to the previous page. |
