Notes on Orchard Trellis Web Server Deployment - The Trellis web servers must maintain less than 1ms latency to the database server due to heavy transactional interactions.
- In a virtual environment, the required memory must be 100% statically allocated or marked as reserved.
- If automated faxing will be deployed, a physical server is required due to telephony requirements.
- For any Orchard Trellis Point-of-Care deployment, you must have a minimum of 4 web servers (5 if using automated faxing). Additional Orchard Trellis Point-of-Care web servers may be deployed for the purposes of scalability to accommodate larger volume organizations. The following metrics should be used when determining how many web servers to deploy:
Server | Quantity | Purpose |
---|
Web Resource Server | 1 | The Resource Web Server controls specific processes for the Trellis Orchard application such as direct printing, remote access printing services (RAPS), HL7 hosts, email, inbox delivery, etc. | HL7 Web Server | 1 | Metric: 1 web server per 75 HL7 messages/minute. | User Access Web Server | 1 | Metric: 1 web server per 300 concurrent users. | Device/Instrument Interface Web Server | 1 | Metric: 1 web server per 75 device instrument result messages/minute. | Optional Faxing Web Server | 1 | Only necessary if utilizing automated faxing from Trellis. |
