Description

Use the Message Center to send messages to any user configured in the system. The number of unread messages is always listed next to the link. A mail icon can be found next to the unread message counter if at least one message is unread. Sent messages are always sent to users. If a message's recipients include locations, practices, and/or groups, the message goes to users associated with said locations/practices/groups.

Access

  • Select Message Center in the navigation bar to the left of the page (next to the current signed-in user's name, signed-in location, and time zone) to display the Message Center pop-up.

Using the Message Center

Received MessagesSelect this option to view messages that have been received in the current user's system. The record table displays a link to the message, who sent the message, the date/time the message was received in the format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS AM/PM, a reply option, and a delete option.
Show ___ entriesThe table displays up to 10 received messages, unless otherwise specified in the Show ___ entries field. The default value is 10. To change the amount of displayed messages, enter a new value into the field; the record table will automatically update. To navigate to the next page of messages, select the right or left arrow buttons accordingly.
ReplySelect to reply to the received message.
DeleteSelect this option to delete the message from the received messages inbox.
Message TextEnter text into this field to filter the received messages inbox by a message's body text. The record table automatically updates. If there are no matches, a "No matching records found" message displays.
FromEnter text in the form of a name into the this field to filter the received message inbox by who a message was sent from. The record table automatically updates. If there are no matches, a "No matching records found" message displays.
Show deletedSelect this checkbox to have the Message Center record table display messages that have been deleted from the received messages inbox.
Show unread onlySelect this checkbox to have the Message Center record table only display messages that have not been opened.
Requires responseSelect this checkbox to have the Message Center record table only display messages that require a response after they have been opened.
Start dateEnter a start and end date/time into the range field to specify a date range to filter messages in the format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM AM/PM.
End dateEnter a start and end date/time into the range field to specify a date range to filter messages in the format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM AM/PM.
NowSelect to enter the current date/time into the fields.
ClearSelect to remove all values from the fields. Select the calendar icon between the date/time to manually select values to be entered into the fields.

Message GroupsSelect to open the Message Groups pop-up.

Group OwnerEnter a group owner name into the field to filter the record table by a specific group owner. If there are no matches, a "No matching records found" message displays.
Show active onlySelect the checkbox to have the record table only display active message groups in the system.
Only show my groupsSelect the checkbox to have the record table only display message groups associated with the current signed-in user's account.

AddSelect the button on the Message Groups pop-up to create a new message group on the New Message Group pop-up.
Group nameEnter the group name into the field. This field is required.
Group ownerThe field will be automatically populated with the user's name that is signed into the system.
Member Type

Select a member type from the drop-down list. Select either User, Location, Practice, or Role from the drop-down list.

  • User: Select if the member type is a user.
  • Location: Select if the member type is a location.
  • Practice: Select if the member type is a practice.
  • Role: Select if the member type is a role.
Send to all signed-in usersSelect the (Group not usable with Sign-in Messages) checkbox to send messages to all users that are signed in at the time the message was sent (includes those across distributed systems).
ActiveSelect the checkbox to specify that the message group will be active in the system so that it will display in filter searches.
Users in this GroupEnter text into the search field to search for users to be added to the message group that is being created. When added to the group, when a user sends a message to the created group, all members selected during this time will receive the message. When text is entered, the record table automatically updates.
SelectSelect the checkbox in the column to select the user to be in the message group.
Show providers onlySelect the option to have the program only show providers.
Show non-providers onlySelect the option to have the program only show non-providers.
Show phlebotomists onlySelect the option to have the program only show phlebotomists.
Show external providers onlySelect the option to have the program only show external providers.
Show active onlySelect this checkbox to have the program only display active user groups.
ResetSelect to clear all checkboxes.
UsersEnter text into the search field in the Group Permissions - Select who can use this group section to filter for specific users to be added to the message group permissions. When text is entered, the record tables automatically update.
PracticesEnter text into the search field in the Group Permissions - Select who can use this group section to filter for specific practices to be added to the message group permissions. When text is entered, the record tables automatically update.
SelectSelect the checkbox in the column to select the users and/or practices to be in the message group.
System WideSelect the checkbox to specify that the message group will be active throughout the entire system. When this checkbox is selected, the user can no longer use the Users and Practices fields.
SaveSelect the button on the New Message Group pop-up to save the new message group. The new message group will now appear on the Message Groups pop-up.
CloseSelect the button on the Message Groups pop-up to return to the Message Center pop-up. Select Close again to close out of the Message Center.


Composing New Messages in the Message Center

ComposeSelect to create and compose a new Message Center message. The message content will appear on the right side of the Message Center pop-up.
UsersSelect in or enter text in to search for and select who will be receiving the message that is being composed.
LocationsSelect in or enter text in to to search for and select who will be receiving the message that is being composed.
PracticesSelect in or enter text in to to search for and select who will be receiving the message that is being composed.
GroupsSelect in or enter text in to to search for and select who will be receiving the message that is being composed.
Show providers onlySelect the option to have the program only show providers.
Show non-providers onlySelect the option to have the program only show non-providers.
Show phlebotomists onlySelect the option to have the program only show phlebotomists.
Show external providers onlySelect the option to have the program only show external providers.
Show active onlySelect this checkbox to have the program only display active user groups.
Update Selectedto add the selection into the field.
Clear SelectedSelect to clear the selections.
CancelSelect to cancel the selection without making any changes. The method is the same for the Locations, Practices, and and/or Groups fields.
Message Content

In this section, enter text into the available field. This is where the message text is composed.

There is a limit of 500 characters per message.

The Text Shortcut functionality is available in the Message Center when composing a new message.

CharactersThe value counter located above the field will total the number of characters used as you type the message.
Send as MessageSelect the checkbox to send the message as a regular message within the system. This means that the message will only go to users within the system.
Send as EmailSelect the checkbox to send the message as an email. This means that the message will be able to be received by an external user with an active email address.
Requires responseSelect the checkbox to note that the message must have a response. This means that when a user opens the message, it is required that they reply to the message.
SendSelect to send the message.
CloseSelect to close out of the Message Center.
